According to Chinese calendars, 2009 was for Tigers, 2010 was for Rabbits. But according to geeks, 2012 has been set perfect for tablets. Till date in 2012 we have tablets from different major firms. The competition among the tablets is getting harder. In the year 2012 the first tablet was from Apple, iPad 3 then after Microsoft announced their tablet, Surface and finally a firm that shocked the whole world, Google. Google announced their tablet Nexus at the annual event of developers. According to recent updates, Apple is all set to launch iPad mini late this year. Well its a rumor let’s see what happens.
In the year 2012, not only the tablets came in the market even many smart phone makes debut in gadget world with all new and innovative features which set perfect to catch the attention of people. The first was from Apple, iPhone 4s then Galaxy S3 from Samsung, Pureview 404 with revolutionary 41 Mega Pixel camera from Nokia and many other smart phones. Apple is all set to launch iPhone 5 this year. I can say that it’s not only a tablet year, 2012 is a gadget year. In this post I’m going to compare iPad 3, Nexus 7 and Surface.
Initially the tablet market was dominated by Apple but with the launch of Microsoft’s Surface and Google’s Nexus tablet, the competition is getting harder. Everyone comes out with a new, innovative and competitive technology which stunned the users. Ok, So it’s time to have a competition of existence between these three tablets. I will only compare them. You have to decide which tablet is better and user-friendly. I will compare the processor performance, operating system, memory, camera, screen resolution respectively.
Processor Performance -
Processor plays a major role in the success of a gadget. On comparing the performance of processor among the three tablets, only Apple has Dual core processor. Well the details of processor of Surface have not been revealed yet. On the other hand Google’s Nexus 7 is powered by Quad core Tegra 3 SOC processor. Whereas Apple’s iPad 3 runs on Dual Core A5X processor. I can’t say which one of these has the best processor as we don’t have the details of Surface.
Operating System -
All the three firms are known to create the best operating systems and that’s why they are coming with their own operating systems. Apple iPad 3 is coming with iOS. Microsoft Surface is powered by their latest achievement in the field of Operating system Windows 8 and Google Nexus is powered by one of the most popular platform for smart phone and tablets Android. Nexus is expected to launch with upcoming Android OS JellyBean. All three OS sets perfect in different fields. Now you have to choose what you need.
Ok let’s talk about the memory of these tablets. Apple iPad 3 is coming with 1 GB RAM and has three different models with different memory options of 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB. Apple iPad 3 has more options to choose because Google Nexus is coming with only two models which differ in memory. One is having 8 GB of storage and other is having 16 GB of storage. Although the RAM is same as iPad 3. Same case with Surface. Surface is coming with two different models with difference in memory as 32 GB and 64 GB. Microsoft has not revealed the information about the RAM of surface.
Camera is a major criterion which is selected at the time of purchase. Now a days everyone needs a gadget with a camera which records full HD videos and capture high quality photos. If I talk about the camera of iPad 3, it records full HD videos @1080P and has 5 MP iSight camera for still photography. Google Nexus has 1.2 MP front camera. Google has not revealed the detail about the rear camera yet. Same as with Surface. Both the firms are waiting to launch their tablet in the market. Till then, they are not going to disclose the features.
Screen Resolution, Size and Weight -
Weight and Size also plays an important role in the success of a gadget. The lighter the gadget better it is. Among these three tablets the heaviest one is Surface with 903 g of weight. The lightest one is Google Nexus with 340 g in weight. Apple iPad 3 weighs 650 g. Apple iPad 3 has mind-blowing 2048 X 1536 screen resolution with retina display on a 9.5 inch screen. On the other hand Google has 1280 X 880 resolution on 7 inch screen. Surface has 10.6 inch screen but the resolution has not been announced yet.
