Akash Tablet, a product launched by the Indian government, is a big failure. The tablet is known to be the worlds cheapest tablet. There are so many reasons for not to buy the Akash tablet. More than 10 lakh Akash tablets are pre booked and people are still in queue. Seeing that, government provides another versions of Akash tablet – Ubislate + and Ubislate 7. Well there are no big change in these two versions except their prices. Akash will simply give you a big disappointment after purchase. Akash tablet was launched in India for the development of educational system of India. Here are some words from Kapil Sibbal before the launch of product – “Soon a $35 computer will be available for every student of school. The tablet will improve the quality of learning of children.”
Well many people think that Akash tablet is a very cheap product but be assure while purchasing it. Take a look on pricing -
Tablet Price – Rs. 2500
4 GB SD Card – Rs. 500
Shipping charges – Rs. 200
No earphones and other accessories.
Why Akash Tablet is a failure ?
Here are some reasons that i have written below for the failure of Akash Tablet -
- Tablet has 336 MHz processor which is not enough to run an android device.
- Do not have enough memory to store files.
- Low battery backup. 180 hours for standby
- Touch screen quality is not so good. Its very resistive.
- Screen resolution is not so good and even reflects the light.
- Tablet does not have bluetooth connectivity.
- It have USB ports but you are unable to connect USB dongle.
- No upgrade for hardwares.
- No app market.
- Old version of operating system. Android 2.2
- No external speaker support.
- Back of tablet is full of company advertisement.

The new version, UbiSlate 7+ comes with an earphone. It is true that it wont have features like Bluetooth and Camera, but what else can you expect in this rate?
It also has positive features like accessible to 150,000 apps. It is a good device hence technically not a failure. At least it is a boon for poor people who cannot afford to buy it.
